My Birthday and Cake!!

It's today...

Called Tok Ayah to wish him Raya wishes, and he, in turn, wished me Happy Birthday!! He remembered!!!

A day I want to remember, so what did I do? Got daun kesom for tomorrow's laksa, hosed down the smart car, saw Khalid Hassan (Masir fellow), went to masjid to fix the two broken swings on the Jungle Gym, grocery-shopping with Pah, and took the family for the final Iftar of the Ramadhan.

Bought a cake for myself. It's our favorite...red velvet with cream cheese frosting...

Masjid Fund Raising!

It was done today, at the HUB, to raise money for our new Masjid. It's been three years since the last FundRaising, when we raised enough to buy the land, one acre at the edge of town.

Now we're raising funds for the building. OK, Indiana PA is a small community. How much did we need and how much did we raise? The meeting was held as part of the weekly community Berbuka Puasa event..

There they go...my kids!!
HUB, where the event was held..
MC, Dr Waleed...
Br. Abd Kadir, ICP Imam...

Br. Arif, the second speaker for the night..
Cash and checks: over $26,000.00. Include the Pledges, we raised a total $58,000.00. That's good for a crowd of 100 attendees. We still need $240,000.00 for the total cost of the Islamic Center complex. If any of my readers want to donate money for our masjid, please let me know. I can forward you the relevant information.

Busy Me

It's a nice day! What should Ayah do?

Is Ayah dancing with smartie?
Or is he playing Hide and Seek?
Rial Wheels needs some scrubbing..
Too much brake dust...
That was smart's first thorough wash since I came back from Msia...
and....
I took the chance to recharge Subie's a/c which has been blowing hot for the past two months..

Lychekang

I like this drink, so I got out the ingredients Pah bought for me five years ago... After they have taken in the water fully, I mixed them up in a big dispenser. Then I prepped two petite ones, specially for me and Pah, at about 11:00 pm. Yummy nightcap.

Reflecting the Past

09/09/09 was Tok Ayah's and Opah's 50th Wedding Anniversary. They married on 09/09/1959. I was born 1 year and 10 days later..
Years later, these grandkids began to sprout...
Now, these were Tok Chai's grandkids.. Notice A'at on extreme left, and me, on extreme right
Years later, after losing some hair...two survivors.. Pak A'at, still a lefty and me, still a righty..
Looking at the larger picture
Yep, 09/09/59.. when it all began...

Wahi's None-Doze Rice Recipe

(suggested garnishing)
OK, here goes..

4 cups of jasmine rice
normal water for 4 cups of rice
two tbsp (HAI-YAHH!) minced garlic, annilhilated
half cup onion, diced and (HAI-YAHH!) chopped to smithereens
4 inches stick margarine, intact and straight-up
half cup (fresh from the garden) sweet basil, diced and (HAI-YAHH!) chopped to smithereens
1 stick cinnamon, intact and straight-up
10 cute little balls whole peppercorn
one piece (HAI-YAHH!) sliced ginger, 1 inch in diameter
half cup mixed veggie (peas, corn, carrot)
one and a half tsp sea salt (from Korea)

(I don't mind the spices in my rice so below is how I cook the rice).

Use a rice-cooker to cook this recipe. Put the rice in, and then measure the water to the proper limit. Then put everything else in. Make sure the cooker's switch is set to "Cook" already. Stir the contents of the cooker until the stick margarine is gone. Replace the lid until cooked, but please do wait fifteen minutes before serving with None-Doze chicken or equivalent.

Bon!!

-wahi
(hmm, all the (HAI-YAHH!).. maybe I should change the name to Kungfu Rice...)
